about

Celestial Etiquette For The Space Cookout is the Velcro Lewis Group's 3rd annual 420 release. Following in the Spirit of 2016's At The Tomb Factory and 2017's Taking Frogg Mountain this release is a document of music created spontaneously in the studio. It is raw percussive psychedelia created by 9 bold souls.
This offering is just a fraction of the magick created on that day. There is enough material for three total volumes... that is a lot of this kind of mess!

Recorded live on 2/22/18 at Frogg Mountain Chicago, IL

Here is the artist's description of the cover art for all our blind brothers and sisters:
john Forbes:
The colors I use are very vibrant. These colors have nothing to do with the colors you find in nature.

Since the album title implies etiquette, extra terrestrials, and cook out; I put a cauldron that is being used as a bar-b-q grill in the foreground. The cauldron is sitting on flat logs that are laid out in a circle. The logs are on fire. The fire is roiling the bar-b-q cauldron. There three items of food cooking on the cauldron's grill. These are a T-bone steak, a chicken leg, and a man's head. The man's head belongs to a middle aged man that is balding. Even though the middle age man's head is severed he still alive because he is yelling in agony and giant beads of sweat are flying off his head.

Here's where the picnic, etiquette, and extra terrestrials come in. Gathered around the cauldron are four space aliens of different species clamoring for the food on the grill. They are of different sizes and shapes. Their appendages are all different from each other too. One has no arms just feet, giant eyes, a mouth full of sharp fangs, and a double plume jutting out of his head. He is the shortest. Next to this one there is the tallest of the bunch. His eyes have no pupils and are large. His head is gigantic. The top of the head is covered in veins. This is because his brain is so large that blood needs to be pumping into it at a rapid pace. Sticking out of the side of his head are wings. Just like those of the Roman god Mercury. He also has a mouth full of fangs. But this one has arms. They are long and spindly. The hands are long with exaggerated tapered fingers. The hands are dangling from the wrist. The next character is tall but not as tall as the last. He has gigantic pink eyes with an eyebrow that covers the circumference of his eye. His skin looks to be of a lumpy texture. But his skin has more the consistency of a shell that human skin. He has arms that end in hands with big pointed fingers. The fingers are almost like claws. Next to him there is a shorter terrestrial. This one has a long protrusion from the top of his head that ends in a small sphere. Perched on this small sphere is a top hat. He has three eyes. His mouth is open and a giant tongue is hanging out in anticipation of the feast. His teeth can be seen. They are shaped like human teeth. Except they are perfectly straight. He has four arms. But he has claws like a crab instead of hands. He has two legs that end in a point like an insects instead of a human foot.
